A Day in the Life of a Home Services Franchise Owner!

Ever wondered what life looks like as a Screenmobile Franchise Owner? Meet Brad Flaig, a former schoolteacher who has established a solid career with our home services franchise. In this video, Brad takes us through what got him to his career as a Franchise Owner.

Brad discovered Screenmobile when he first worked under another Screenmobile Franchise Owner, Blake McGrath. “Before I became a Franchise Owner, I was working as a schoolteacher for the public county schools,” Brad stated. “My brother had recommended a job; I worked for Blake McGrath, and Blake McGrath owned a Screenmobile franchise in Ocean City, Maryland and it was pretty successful. That’s how I was introduced to Screenmobile.”

After seeing the success of Blake’s Screenmobile franchise, Brad saw the perfect opportunity to fulfill his entrepreneurial passion of being his own boss. “I always liked the idea working for myself because in this world, you know working for somebody else, you’re only going to go so far. It’s good and it’s an acceptable life to do that, but I had always imagined other things that I want to do,” Brad said. “I was not really attracted to the wealth as much as being attracted to the freedom and the independence of doing it. It’s just doing the things that you want to do and knowing that you’re going through life and trying everything that you possibly can and going out on your deathbed with no excuses.”

Being your own business owner also requires hard work and determination. “I expect that I work hard now so in the future, I will not have to work as hard,” Brad claimed. “At least that’s what I aspire to do, but it’s nice to have something to stay busy. The flexibility, I have not seen it as much as I’d like to lately. It has improved since the beginning; it’s a matter of getting better, getting more organized, and getting things accomplished.”

Brad also sees that Screenmobile possesses a great value proposition that sets them apart from everyone else. “In Charleston, we have a unique market. I have some competition, but there’s nobody quite like what we do at the level that we do it,” Brad argued. “There’s an enormous amount of business here. I have some competition that is out there that exists, and I have seen them maybe two or three times. Truthfully, they pale in comparison. When you bring the total package— when you look professional, when you have all the stuff done correctly, when you answer your phones— when people call and they get that voice, they know that you’re a legitimate business and there’s a lot of things that we do behind doors to make ourselves a step beyond our competition, so at times we even have to find ways to slow it down or speed it up.”

The unique value has shown in overall sales and numbers. “I’m really happy about how the revenue has come through, I can see that it’s gonna keep growing and there’s room for expansion.”

So, what does Brad view as the most rewarding part of being a Franchise Owner with our home services franchise? “The best part of my day as an owner is really the satisfaction of completing things on my own,” Brad said. “Becoming better at a trade in the world and creating something out of nothing. Over time, depending on the choices and decisions you make, the way that you market, and how you represent your company, you could get better and do anything that you want to do. The ceiling is unlimited. With a regular salary business, you know what you’re getting. In this business, you can go anywhere.”
